Coty Chypre

This composition is an intimate homage to the early chypre perfumes of the 1910s, inspired by François Coty’s original vision of contrast: radiant citrus dissolving into moss, florals suspended in shadow, and warmth that emerges slowly from the skin rather than announcing itself.
The fragrance opens with luminous bergamot softened by a whisper of aldehydic light. At its heart, rose and jasmine unfold alongside rare champaca, tuberose, pink lotus, and orris butter, creating a quiet powdered veil reminiscent of vintage cosmetic elegance. Neroli lends a refined green brightness that keeps the florals poised rather than opulent.
The base reflects the classical chypre architecture—oakmoss, patchouli, and labdanum forming a textured landscape of earth, resin, and softened leather. Fossilized ambergris tincture provides a subtle tidal warmth and diffusion that evolves with time, allowing the perfume to feel lived-in rather than worn. Styrax completes the structure with a gentle balsamic shadow.
This perfume is composed and macerated slowly using natural materials, allowing its character to emerge over weeks rather than moments. The result is a fragrance that favors restraint, texture, and longevity of impression over immediacy—an olfactory object intended to be experienced privately and revisited often.
A study in patience, balance, and historical continuity, Coty Chypre by Collesta is less a recreation than a conversation with the past.
